Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community within The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's a distinct island that lies west of Montreal However, in reality this part of West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, this is not true. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. She was determined to become a professional dancer, but because of a huge growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. She admitted in an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. After I outgrew my male counterparts I stopped. The former dancers usually turn into acting and Brugel was not an exception. An instructor in drama at her high school encouraged Bruce in her direction that she required. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. In the last 20 years the career of Brugel has seen her in more than 60 movies and TV productions. The most well-known role was Rita (shown in the video below) in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
